Sally and Joe

It was such a joy and honour to photograph this couple. Picking a location that they loved, when it was my ideal location as well, I knew it would be something special.

Romantic walks, playing on the beach and making sandcastles - what more could I ask for.

One of the most rewarding elements of working with couples and engagement shoots is that they are free and experimental, the is no reception to rush back to and no concerns about dresses so I always feel that it lets me get to know the couple much more intimately before the big day.

Working through poses and ways of being together that feels comfortable, but also looks good on camera will set them up for a fantastic photo session on their wedding day, even if I am not the photographer, it’s nice to help couples make the most of their experience together.

This beach, alongside Southwold Pier in Suffolk, was a fantastic location as it presented so many different options and areas to explore. We first walked along the pier and got to know each other a little more as well as work out what Sally and Joe really wanted from the shoot and would benefit most from. Sometimes, even though we have already had this conversation, it can sometimes feel different on the day, so I like to touch base and see how we are as we start our adventure together.

We then went for a walk next to the beach huts and all the lovely colours along there, hopping down to the beach and playing in the water, making sandcastles and then a few moments under the pier with the (from a photographers point of view) amazing lines and contrasts with waves crashing in and swirling in around the base of the pier.

I learned later on that Joe was rather nervous and, well… aside from hiding it very well. I think he looks really relaxed and comfortable in the images. He certainly made both Sally and I laugh throughout the shoot so, what every you’re doing Joe, it’s working!

I can’t wait to see these two on their special day. With such an open and honest love between them, they will light up the room and the lens!

Thank you both for letting me be a part of your journey this far, and I wish you all the happiness and ice cream in your next adventures together.
