Mila & Paulie

On a bright, sunny afternoon in June I found myself with soon-to-be wed couple, Mila and Paul. With just three weeks to go until their big day, this was a shoot buzzing with energy and excitement.

Their chosen location? A beautiful woodland in Suffolk, full of little nooks and crannies that not only satisfied their desire for privacy, but also offered an array of different areas for us to explore, play with some different light qualities and backdrops and provide us with an abundance of props and places to weather the hounds.

In tow were their two dogs, Icy and Gully. The saying ‘never work with children or animals’ was proved wrong this time as the dogs helped them to relax and forget about their concern before we began, of being ‘really rather camera shy’. They also provided us with endless giggles, entertainment and a few escape attempts.

I saw the couples playful side shine through early on when we came across a series of dens which they both immediately crawled into; the dogs quickly following suit. This theme continued with impromptu piggyback rides to get out of some of the thorny coppices we had found ourselves in.

The final shots focused solely on the couple, with Icy and Gully sitting obliging at a nearby tree. After a while, and much to the amusement of us all, there came an indignant howl from the little hound dog, as if to say 'enough is enough'.

It truly was an incredibly enjoyable afternoon, with the photos really capturing the beauty of their relationship and emotion for their upcoming special day; one which I’m sure is going to be full of love and laughter.

It’s days like these that remind me of how lucky and how deeply grateful I am for my career and the joy and happiness I get to experience. I am truly honoured to be able to have worked with this incredible family of four and share in their special moments and love for each other.
