A Love Filled Easter At Home

It’s a bit of a different Easter for us this year! With the change that COVID has brought, I have swapped the usual Easter rowing camp and fun filled weekends of wedding bliss, for the comfort of my sitting room floor and put my mind to adapting in the best way I know how … to start creating things.

I often feel so blessed that I get to channel a lot of my energy into creating, making, recording things etc. so on this beautiful Easter Bank Holiday at home, I have set myself the task of learning some new skills so I can create something to share with you.

Having been in love with Japan and Japanese culture for as long as I can remember, I particularly enjoy the way they create beauty out of simple things. The clean lines, flow of movement and ritual behind their art is inspiring and something I long to achieve.

Inspired by a wonderful couple I worked with at Wandsworth hall, my mind strayed to Origami. For this wedding, one of the brides happened to be allergic to flowers, so instead of sneezing and coughing all the way through her own ceremony, all the flowers were created from paper and for the confetti … we made little origami balloons.

It’s an inspiration that I have kept with me, knowing one day it would come in handy, and here we are. Little paper balloons, that (you can also fill with water if you. Have an outside space) that can be used as confetti, table decorations or a game to keep the kids busy

Another little gem I found for an eco-friendlier creative idea to spread the love is little paper fortune cookies. Leave special personalise messages for your loved ones on their place setting, or a potluck in a big bowl at the reception. They make for a simple way to spread the even and add in your dash of colour to the day. Make them now, and they can be kept safe in advance for the big day.

It’s also something I have had fun making this weekend for Easter. Why don’t you give it a try?
