Hannah & George

The fabulous first dance for Hannah and George at their Cafe de Paris Wedding in central London

When I was asked by international photographer Tigz Rice to second shoot for her, ‘of course,’ is my first reply. Working with Tigz is always a whirlwind of inspiration and a good giggle. The details came through as a wedding to two extremely charismatic people at the one and only, Café de Paris … It had the makings of a very theatrical evening that really was something super special, I wasn’t wrong!

Meeting early to run through the shot-list and prep the equipment we had a walk around to see the best angles, run through where we needed to be, which shots were key and what time they were happening. Tigz had planned the shoot to the minute which, as we talked, was a relief with so much going on.

One of the most beautiful buildings in London became host to a fabulous cabaret style wedding. With all the stops pulled out and a plethora of fantastic entertainment kept the guests enthralled and entwined in the 1920’s themed wedding excitement.

Introduced with much flare by Paul L Martin, were the Moirai Tribal belly dancers who sashayed on stage and delivered a performance that people could not take their eyes away from.  Next was Kiki Lovechild with a beautiful tender and very funny clown, catching (or not catching) butterflies which reminded and paid homage to the delicate tenderness of the day. Lighting up the room after the main course was Trixie Tassles, a fire dancing goddess and Amelia Sparkles, an Aerial artist who spun and twirled and raised the audiences spirits to dizzying heights, befitting the venue.

On the back of the Service order were a list of challenges ranging from ‘do the Charleston to the live swing band’ to ‘find the secret speak easy,’ which kept everyone busy and getting up to mischief.

The first dance was a fabulous performance from the bride and groom and then backed up by some very talented and light-footed guests who danced the night away to The Lady Gatsby Jazz Band.

I was both inspired and amazed at how these two beautifully creative and theatrical minds can join together and host a breath taking evening in celebration of their unity and love for each other. As second shooter, I was able to see a side to this extraordinary evening that I would not usually see as the main photographer. As always, learning so much from Tigz, her vision and her style are always inspiring artistically just added to the memorable experience.
